[5/29/02 3:03:26 PM]

Kathryn Leigh Scott (KLS) :Hello everyone! I'm ready to answer your questions!

[5/29/02 3:04:07 PM]
question from bethsammon: Any particular memorable events (thus far unpublished)that occurred on or off the set with co-stars that you would like to share?

[5/29/02 3:05:20 PM]
KLS: One day we walked into the rehearsal room at 8 a.m., we saw boxes and boxes piled up. A stage manager told us it was Jonathan's fan mail...that's when we really new we had success.

[5/29/02 3:05:50 PM]
question from Daphne: Bloopers are one of the aspects of DS that make it so endearing; do you have a favorite one?

[5/29/02 3:07:22 PM]
KLS: I think the funniest one had myself and Jonathan walking into the foyer at Collinwoood. He walked into the shot with hangers. I hope many of you will attend the DS Festival, we will be doing a bloopers skit.

[5/29/02 3:08:23 PM]
Question from Josette789: I noticed that your hair was short and I think blond when you first met Victoria Winters, when did it change to long and brown? When you were hired did you know that you would be playing Josette? I hated that Barnabas and Josette didn't get to be happy for long.

[5/29/02 3:10:32 PM]
KLS: It is true. All the women auditioned with Victoria Winters' script. Dan Curtis said, "why are you wearing a wig, I like your hair better!"

[5/29/02 3:11:02 PM]
question from: tim_tim38 : What did you think of the 1991 "Dark Shadows" revival series?

[5/29/02 3:12:23 PM]
KLS: I never saw it! I was on the set during filming since Dan Curtis wanted me to publish a book for it. It did not being back any nostalgia for me for the original show, though.

[5/29/02 3:12:37 PM]
writer206 : What was the most rewarding aspect of the "Dark Shadows" series for you?

[5/29/02 3:13:21 PM]
KLS: The camraderie of the other cast members and the excitement of working with such other young actors and experienced actors such as Joan Bennett. What an incredible first job!

[5/29/02 3:13:30 PM]
doughboy : doughboy: Kathryn, what's it like working with Jonathan Frid?

[5/29/02 3:14:30 PM]
KLS: It was incredible. He was very down-to-earth. During the end of the run, he started to get a little tired of the role, but he was wonderful. There wasn't a day that I didn't look forward to going to work.

[5/29/02 3:14:39 PM]
dawn : some people say Angelique and Barnabas made a better couple than Josette and Barnabas..what do you think of the pairing of Josette and Barnabas?

[5/29/02 3:15:42 PM]
KLS: I think it was the triangle that made the pairings so interesting. Without Angelique, Josette would have been more dull!.

[5/29/02 3:15:54 PM]
saci826 : If you have children, do you let them watch it? My 8 year-old boy loves it. He feels sorry for Barnabas.

[5/29/02 3:16:53 PM]
KLS: I wouldn't have any trouble with children watching the show as long as they weren't frightened. Everybody feels sorry for Barnabas, though. That's the genius of Jonathan Frid...he created an amazing character.

[5/29/02 3:17:16 PM]
saci826 : The "House of Dark Shadows" movie is one of my favorites. Was it hard going from TV to big screen?

[5/29/02 3:17:55 PM]
KLS: It was different and it was especially difficult for the young actors of the show who were used to the fast-paced environment of the series.

[5/29/02 3:18:07 PM]
rebelbelle : Have you been back to the Lockwood-Mathews mansion since the filming of "House of Dark Shadows?"

[5/29/02 3:18:57 PM]
KLS: Yes, I have been back. It was great fun! I felt very nostalgic visiting again. I really think the Lockwood Mansion was much more evocative for me. It really reminded me of being back there filming.

[5/29/02 3:19:19 PM]
tim_tim38 : I had the pleasure of seeing Jonathan Frid perform his two one man shows in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Too bad that Hollywood never used him in better roles.

[5/29/02 3:19:48 PM]
KLS: I'm not sure how interested Jonathan was in having a movie career. I think he's much more of a stage actor.

[5/29/02 3:20:10 PM]
doughboy : doughboy: Kathryn, what's your favorite show from England?

[5/29/02 3:20:35 PM]
KLS: My favorite show from England was "Brideshead Revisited".

[5/29/02 3:20:46 PM]
shardacus : Who was the biggest trouble maker on the set? What kind of stunts did they pull?

[5/29/02 3:21:20 PM]
KLS: Probably Roger Davis. He loved to agitate and provoke and see how people would handle it. I wouldn't call him a trouble-maker. Simply a provocateur.

[5/29/02 3:21:32 PM]
tk : Which of the cast members were you closest to off the set?

[5/29/02 3:22:06 PM]
KLS: I would say Joan Bennett, Joel Crothers and Grayson Hall.

[5/29/02 3:22:25 PM]
im_tim38 : How did you like working with Patrick Stewart and Ray Wise on "Star Trek - The Next Generation?" You were great on that episode that you did.

[5/29/02 3:22:49 PM]
KLS: That was wonderful! We got along extremely well. It was really one of my best experiences.

[5/29/02 3:23:05 PM]
lindsey : Do you have any special memories of Lara Parker during the run of the series? Lara and you are two of my favorite actresses; I think you both did a WONDERFUL job on Dark Shadows!

[5/29/02 3:23:48 PM]
KLS: I have many memories of her. When we were on the set, we were very, very close. We just had so much fun together. Lara and I to this day still play off the fact that I was the brunette and she was the blonde.

[5/29/02 3:26:21 PM]
lily : If you could have played any character other than the ones you did play, which would you have chosen?

[5/29/02 3:26:41 PM]
KLS: I think Pansy Faye. I thought it was such a silly, funny character.

[5/29/02 3:27:19 PM]
ms.miller : What was your funniest memory of Mr. Frid?

[5/29/02 3:28:10 PM]
KLS: There are so many. If you had a kissing scene with him, he'd always make comments that "We don't need to rehearse that. It's just a meeting of the lips." He was very funny!

[5/29/02 3:28:23 PM]
saci826 : What are you up to now?

[5/29/02 3:28:50 PM]
KLS: I've written a novel and am just finishing up the revisions on that. It's been wonderful fun to write.

[5/29/02 3:31:57 PM]
from RedsGoddess:Do you have a favorite scene from the series?

[5/29/02 3:32:33 PM]
KLS: When Barnabas gives Maggie the music box. Also scenes between Joe and Maggie.

[5/29/02 3:33:33 PM]
question from Lesr It is an honor to chat with someone so beautiful, talented, and business-minded, as well as someone I have watched since DS. You are a very gifted person. How did you decide to go into publishing?

[5/29/02 3:34:52 PM]
KLS: I just started writing and couldn't stop. My boyfriend at the time was a photo journalist at Time-Life and came over at lunch to take pictures of the cast behind the scenes. Years later, after reviewing the contact sheets and realizing the photos had never been published, I felt it would be good material for a book, my first one, "My Scrapbook Memories of Dark Shadows.".

[5/29/02 3:38:43 PM]
KLS: Thanks for all of your questions. I look forward to seeing all of you at the Dark Shadows Festival this year. We will be doing a "bloopers" segment. I will also be there selling my books and will be happy to autograph them. My books are also available at www.kathrynleighscott.com & www.pomegranatepress.com.
